Questions for your
senior living tour.
Bring the same questions to each community. Ask for written details so your family can compare the options that matter to you.

Care and daily life
- What needs can your community support, and what needs can you not accommodate?
- Who completes the assessment and determines the care level before admission?
- How are changes in care needs assessed and communicated to the family?
- What help is available overnight? How does a resident request assistance?
- How are medication support, meals, transportation and activities arranged?
- What does a typical day look like, and how are personal preferences respected?
Staffing and communication
- Who is available on each shift? Which licensed clinical staff, if any, are on site?
- What training is relevant to the resident’s needs, including memory support?
- Who is our main contact, and how are concerns and emergencies handled?
- What are the emergency, evacuation and power-outage plans?
Costs and agreement
- What is included in the base price, and which services cost extra?
- Can we receive a written estimate covering rent, care and other recurring charges?
- What deposits, move-in fees, rate changes, refund rules and notice periods apply?
- What happens if needs change or the community can no longer provide the required care?
Before making a decision
Confirm current licensing, assessment results, availability, written costs and the admission agreement. A tour is a starting point, not confirmation of admission or a guarantee of care.
